Dreamworks and Shrek 2 producers had predicted that new character Puss, played in the CG sequel by Antonio Banderas, would be an extremely popular character. It seems they were right, since the little fur ball will now get his very own movie.
Variety reported that a direct-to-video spin-off has been assigned to scribes Ed Decter and John Strauss (The Santa Clause 2). NO exact release date was discussed, but chances are it will be used to promote the next 'Shrek' chapter.
No news yet on Banderas' involvement, but since he's already signed on for Shrek 3, it's pretty likely he'll spend a few more days in the booth.
