Russian authorities have arrested two suspects from the province of Ingushetia in connection with the school hostage crises that resulted in the death of over 330 people in early September.
Chechen strong man, Shamil Basayev has claimed responsibility for the hostage incident. Officials were not disclosing how of even if the two arrested men were connected to Basayev.
The first suspect, identified as Marina Korigova, is a college student. Russian police tracked her down via telephone records that they claim prove she had 16 phone conversations with a man involved in the seizure of the school. Korigova has denied the charges and simply said that the man she called was her neighbor.
The second man officials have in custody is 28 year-old Akhmed Merzhoyev. Merzhoyev is accused of delivering food to the hostage takers before they took over the school.
It is unclear when the two defendants will be tried and exactly what charges will be brought against them.
