The Oscar race is starting to hot up with just over three months to the star studded event in Hollywood. Today, the contenders for the Best Documentary have been revealed.
Morgan Spurlock's 'Super Size Me', the Briish film from Kevin McDonald, 'Touching the Void', 'Riding Giants', 'Dogtown and Z Boys', Ross Kauffman's 'Born Into Brothels', a film that revolves around Calcutta's child prostitutes, Jessica Yu's 'In The Realms Of The Unreal' and 'The Story of the Weeping Camel' all made the list. Joining them are 'Home of the Brave', 'Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train', 'The Ritchie Boys', 'The Story of Weeping Camel', 'Tell Them Who You Are', 'Tupac: Resurrection', and 'Twist of Faith'.
These twelve movies will now be reduced to five nominations for the February ceremony. Those five nominations will be announced at the end of January.
The big absence from the list of contenders for the Best Documentary Oscar is Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11'. Moore withdrew the film from competition in September.
