Just last week, actor Nicolas Cage told reporters that nothing was inked yet regarding Ghost Rider. "I know they're in Australia right now looking for locations so it's getting down to the wire. It's not definite yet" said Cage during his 'National Treasure Promotional tour, adding "I would be very happy if that happened and we made it in Australia." Rumours spread quickly that Cage had once again pulled out of a project.
But Publicist Fiona Searson shot down all talks of non-commitment this week, and confirmed the go ahead given for the Australia shooting.
"The film will be made here and he (Cage) has signed a contract ... They're due to start (filming) at the end of January and that's when they always were due to start and that's what they're working towards" told Searson to Associated Press.
Financial backer Film Victoria, which provided an undisclosed amount to the production, also put the record straight in a communiqué, saying that talks of Cage pulling out were 'rumour and innuendo".
Daredevil helmer Mark Steven Johnson is set to direct, out of his own script in collaboration with Shaft scribe Shane Salerno. Johnson was said to be the cause of Nic's hesitation, due to precocious creative difference regarding the character.
