Reality TV Meets TLC

After TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in a car accident in 2002, the two surviving members of the group seemed to fade into oblivion. But now, some two and a half years after her Lopes' death, Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas are ready to get back into their music and, in the process, reinvent TLC. To do this, they need to find a third member of the group to replace Lopes, and are going to conduct their search as part of a reality TV show.

'R U the Girl With T-Boz & Chilli” will air as an eight-part series on UPN. Although the show’s air date is yet to be determined, taping is expected to begin early in 2005. The show will follow typical reality/talent show format and include auditions, semi-finals and final rounds. The winner will have the opportunity to join them for a concert and a recording session.

Lopes was 30 when she died on April 25 as the result of injuries she suffered in a car accident in Honduras. The group finished their fourth album, 3D, , using prerecorded tracks of Lopes’ voice. They performed their final concert in June 2003.
