ebay Fun and Holy Toast!

The Internet megasite eBay yelled 'hold the cheese' when they found a 10-year-old grilled cheese sandwich that its owner says bears the image of the Virgin Mary being auctioned off on its website. But today the Holy sandwich is back on the block.

Diana Duyser put the sandwich up for auction last week and began drawing bids as high as $22,000 before eBay pulled the item Sunday. Duyser then got an email from eBay announcing that her auction broke their policy which 'does not allow listings that are intended as jokes.'

An eBay spokesman Hani Durzy said the listing was removed because officials questioned whether Duyser could deliver the product.

Duyser, a jewelry designer who has bought and sold items on eBay for two years, assured eBay that the Virgin Mary grilled cheese was no laughing matter.

'After looking at it a second time, there's nothing to indicate that the seller isn't willing to give up this cheese sandwich to the highest bidder,' Hani Durzy said. 'We're going to allow it to stay up.'

Duyser made the sandwich 10 years ago and on plain white bread and American cheese and cooked with no oil or butter. She said she took a bite of the sandwich and saw a face staring back at her from the bread.

At first she was scared of the image, 'but now that I realize how unique it is, I wanted to share it with the world,' Duyser told The Miami Herald.

The grilled cheese Virgin Mary is now taking bids on eBay, alongside other items, such as chewing gum bearing the image of the Virgin Mary and the Olsen Twins.
