23-year-old Allan Menzies was found dead in his prison cell yesterday, in Scotland. Although prison authorities will not comment until an investigation has taken place, British medias reported that the death was an apparent act of suicide.
The young man became sadly famous last year when convicted for the murder of best friend Thomas McKendrick. During the trial, he claimed he had been ordered to kill his friend by a vampire from the 2002 movie 'Queen Of The Damned'.
Menzies was reportedly obsessed with the film, which he had seen at least a hundred times. On the night of Dec.11th 2002, an argument over the movie erupted between the friends, ending with McKendrick's body repeatedly beaten and stabbed.
Menzies told the court he then drank his friend's blood and ate part of his head, in an effort to gain immortality.
Even though a psychiatric consultant confirmed the man's testimony that he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, three other experts rejected the diagnosis, thus concluding the trial with life imprisonment.
The strange case isn't without reminding us of the circumstances around the 1969 killing of actress Sharon Tate. Convicted killer Charles Manson had claimed The Beatles sent him on his murderous mission, through their song 'Helter Skelter'.
