Revolution Studios have picked up a project called 'Freedomland', with actors Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore signed on to star.
Based on the best-selling novel by Richard Price, the film centres on an investigation to find a child who was kidnapped right in his mother's car. Jackson plays a head of police who must deal with what has become a racially charged situation. Moore plays the child's mother.
The project, adapted by author Price, was initially developed at Paramount alongside Scott Rudin Productions, with Morgan Freeman set to star. Revolution president Joe Roth scooped up the rights, for himself to direct. Rudin is still attached as producer.
Filming should go ahead next spring, with eyes towards a late 2005 release.
