Freshly liberated from his 007 duties, 51-year-old actor Pierce Brosnan is slated to revisit another of his former roles, millionaire thief Thomas Crown.
As a follow up to the 1999 remake of 'The Thomas Crown Affair', another 1960's heist caper will be reworked, this time 'Topkapi'.
Based on the Eric Ambler novel 'Light Of Day', the 1964 movie centered on an everyday man accidentally implicated with world-class jewel thieves intent on robbing the famous Topkapi museum in Istanbul.
The new 'Affair' will not only provide a new adventure for Crown, but also explore the character much deeper than the original or the remake.
"We want to take that character further, crack him open, put him in an international backdrop," told producer Beau St-Clair to Variety. The idea would be to present a post 9/11 Thomas Crown, and all that implicates for his shenanigans.
'Bandits' scribe Harley Peyton has been tapped for writing duties. No word yet on the possibility of getting co-star Renée Russo and director John McTiernan for a second round.
Do you think Brosnan will get Colin Farrell to appear?
