You weren't really expecting a bad week to keep Michael Moore away, were you?
According to Variety, controversial documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has met with Miramax head Harvey Weinstein over plans to make 'Fahrenheit 9/11˝,' a sequel to his record-breaking 'Fahrenheit 9/11.'
'We want to get cameras rolling now and have it ready in two, three years,' Moore says.
'Fahrenheit 9/11,' an expose on the Bush administrations failure to properly deal with the 9/11 attacks on America, made a lot of waves, and shattered some box-office records along the way. But, Moore now says that his film wasn't enough to sway the American public at large.
'We want to document and commercialize it,' Moore told Variety. 'Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them. They weren't told the truth. We're communicators and it's up to us to start doing it now.'
The issues for the 'Fahrenheit 9/11' sequel will not change because of the election, and will focus on Iraq and terrorism.
Undaunted by Bush's re-election and the recent Golden Globe snub, Moore says that Weinstein is moving forward with an Oscar campaign for 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' pushing it for a Best Picture nom, as well as any other applicable category.
Moore told Variety that Harvey said to him, 'Let's do it. And I said 'whatever Harvey wants, I'm ready.'' He chuckled and added, 'I don't know if people want to see me on the stage of the Kodak again. However, since my wife (Kathleen) was the producer, if I win -- she speaks!'.
In the meantime, Moore will continue preparing his other film 'Sicko,' a look at the national health care industry.
'The official mourning period is over today and there is a silver lining -- George W. Bush is prohibited by law from running again.'
