For the second consecutive day, Judge Alfred A. Delucchi dismissed a jurror from the Scott Peterson murder trial. This time, the jury's foreman, an attorney who also has a medical degree, was dismissed from the panel. No reason for the dismissal was disclosed.
Yesterday, another jurror was dismissed from the case and the jury was ordered to start deliberations over again. That jurror had reportedly used outside sources to obtain information about the case.
On Monday, the jury told the judge they were having difficulty reaching a decision. The judge ordered them to continue deliberating.
Scott Peterson is on trial for the murder of his wife, Laci and the couple's fetus. Laci was eight months pregnant when she disappeared on or about December 24, 2002. If convicted, Peterson could face the death penalty if the jury believes the murder was premeditated. The jury also has the option of convicting Peterson on second degree or non-premeditated murder.
