West coast based feminist rock group Sleater-Kinney have parted ways with Kill Rock Stars, signing on instead with Subpop. The Subpop label has been known for first signing on Nirvana and other grunge rock icons.
The band's Subpop debut will be produced by Dave Fridmann, the man behind Low and the Flaming Lips. The Seattle based Subpop released a statment on their website saying that they're 'honored to work with the band.'
The band issued the following statement via their official website:
'We parted amicably with Killrockstars last year,' says the band. 'After a decade of playing music we decided that we wanted to try something new. We will always consider KRS to be part of who we are and have much love and respect for them.'
The band will begin work on their seventh album this Friday and will work steadily for the next two months. They have slotted an early spring release date.
Sleater-Kinney will be heading to New York for a New Year's Eve concert alongside Wilco and the Flaming Lips at Madison Square Garden.
