Michael Jackson's attorneys have filed a motion in court seeking to remove the DA in the case, Tom Sneddon. Jackson's motion claimed that Sneddon was 'motivated by personal animosity' towards the 'King of Pop' which would prevent Jackson from receiving a fair trial.
According to Jackson's attorneys, Sneddon is holding a personal grudge against the singer because he failed to get charges filed against Jackson in a 1993 case.
The California State Attorney General Bill Lockyer
backed Sneddon and submitted papers supporting the embattled DA, saying Sneddon was only doing his job and that there was no evidence of any kind of improper behavior on his part.
A ruling is expected on the motion some time Thursday. Most legal experts say it is unlikely Jackson will succeed at removing the DA from the case.
Jackson is scheduled to stand trial on charges of child molestation and administering alcohol to a child beginning January 31, 2005. Jackson has entered a not guilty plea on all charges.
