There has been great buzz going on about who will take over the role of James Bond after Pierce Brosnan completes his fourth 007 film 'After The Sunset.' Brosnan has said he would like to see Colin Farrell maybe take the role of the the ultra-suave secret agent man.
'There's a lot of guys out there that can do it,' says 51-year-old Brosnan. 'Colin Farrell would be good, or if you want to go younger, Daniel Radcliffe.'
Younger? Is he kidding? What's next -- Baby Bond?
What's happening to our jolly good James Bond, the classy chap who never let a drop of his martini muss his tux while battling the most bizarre enemy? Are fans prepared to trade off a sophisticated gent for a foul-mouthed badboy?
When Brosnan took over the role from Timothy Dalton in 1995, fans everywhere doubted the Brit's manliness. But, Brosnan showed that he had the Thunderballs to handle the part, and has actually helped refresh the energy of the lagging 007 franchise. Now, after four roles and no renewed contract -- the hunt is on for a new Bond.
The list of names seem more like a People's Pretty Faces issue than a roster of tough-but-cool secret agent guy: Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Eric Bana, Hugh Grant, Heath Ledger... oh boy! The world is not enough!
Maybe it's time to revoke the super spy's license to thrill.
