R. Kelly is now suing Jay-Z and his Marcy Projects company for $75 million after he quit the joint Best of Both Worlds tour. The breach of contract suit alleges threats of violence, Kelly stating he saw two men in the audience waving firearms at their show in Madison Square Garden on Friday. When security cleared the audience, Kelly claims he was pepper-sprayed by one of Jay-Z's entourage when returning to the stage. Kelly was treated at a local hospital and released.
The lawsuit also claims that Jay-Z and his associates intentionally performed acts that would keep R. Kelly from the tour, including violence.
The lawsuit is asking for $15 million for lost income and an additional $60 million in punitive damages.
The Best Of Both Worlds concert tour may be forced to refund tickets.
