Montreal, November 2, 2004 - Atopia is pleased to announce that its domestic distribution arm, Atopia Distribution, successfully released the Canadian film A SILENT LOVE in the US this weekend. Reviews in the New York Times, Daily News, Post and Village Voice praised the originality and intelligence of the film.
The specialized web site, RottenTomatoes.com, which monitors US film reviews, gave a 91% approval rating to A SILENT LOVE, making it the most critically successful US release of a Canadian narrative film since the web site started monitoring reviews in 1998.
A SILENT LOVE, which premiered at Sundance last January, will run exclusively in New York City until a wider US release begins on November 19. Atopia Distribution released A SILENT LOVE to public and critical acclaim in Canada on September 10 and the film is still playing in selected Canadian cities.
Atopia Distribution’s next scheduled release is the film JIMMYWORK, by Montreal director Simon Sauvé, which was selected for the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival and the Festival of Nouveau Cinema in Montreal.
Atopia will attend the American Film Market later this week to sell domestic home video and foreign distribution rights for A Silent Love and Jimmywork as well as to secure production financing for new projects.
