Two car bombs exploded in Iraq today as insurgents continued their fight against American troops and their allies in a possible attempt to influence the American Presidential Elections.
The first car bomb exploded in Baghdad near the Ministry of Education on Tuesday. A car rammed itself straight into the protective wall surrounding the government Education Ministry building in a direct attack on the American appointed interim Iraqi government. At least eight people were killed and 29 were wounded as a result of the blast.
The second blast took place in the Northern Iraqi city of Mosul. A military convoy escorting Iraqi General Rashid Feleih was attacked and exploded resulting in the death of at least seven soldiers. Government officials believe this was an attempt to assassinate the general who was unhurt in the incident.
There is still no word on the status of the six foreign hostages taken by terrorists in Iraq on Monday. One American is among the captives.
