Not that “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” was a cautionary tale, but big studios should sometimes look at each other’s mistakes for the benefit of audiences.
According to Contact Music, the proposed third Grease feature wouldn’t go the ‘remake’ way, nor star a new pair of love birds. Paramount is apparently trying to lure John Travolta back by changing the script to what the actor would want to see.
The story would pair Travolta back with Olivia Newton-John during the 80s, where Danny and Sandy meet up at a Rydell High reunion, and revisit their feelings for each other. A source says that both ‘kids” just loved working together, and really hope to do so again.
Even though the first ‘Grease’ was just this side of a good kick in the shins, this one might -just MIGHT- not be such a bad commercial idea after all. The Musical genre IS making a certain comeback since “Moulin Rouge” and “Chicago”, might as well give audiences something they know and love.
