The part recently vacated by Nicole Kidman for “The Producers” has apparently been picked up by The Bride, Uma Thurman.
According to New York Times, Thurman has already signed on to play Swedish bombshell Ulla, alongside Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick and Will Ferrell.
Kidman reportedly dropped out due to her commitment on “Eucalyptus”. The trade mentions that Charlize Theron was also approached for the role.
Based on the highly acclaimed Broadway play, itself based on a 1968 Mel Brooks comedy, “The Producers” follows a pair of desperate schemers who ploy to make money out of a sure-fire flop.
Directed by choreographer Susan Stroman, the movie starts production next February, aiming for release next Christmas.
