A new Trojan horse has arrived and this one is aimed at smart phone users who utilize the Symbian operating system. The new Trojan horse disables anti-virus software and then places a new version of the Cabir Worm into the system.
The new threat is more sophisticated than past Trojan horses as it contains a second Trojan called 'Sexxxy' which then attempts to spread to other phones in the area through the Bluetooth short-range wireless protocol.
'This is a new strand of smart phone malware because it actually consists of three pieces: two Trojans and a worm,' says Aaron Davidson, chief executive officer of SimWorks. 'It also shows how viruses writers are getting more sophisticated.'
The Trojan is connected to a fake version of the Metal Gear game. Those downloading the facsimile game program onto their phones will activate the Trojan horse. Repairs will also be extremely difficult because the Trojan disables those parts of the phone that are needed to make repairs.
