I guess it was only a matter of time until a very successful game, created by Tom Clancy above all, received its due Hollywood consideration. Thriller lovers will rejoice to learn Paramount Pictures has picked up the rights and already assigned a creative team. They may wince by their choice, however: actor/writer/director Peter Berg.
Berg, who made his directing debut with the questionable "Very Bad Things" in 1998, has picked great credibility in the last two years. First with "The Rundown", an enjoyable action-pack vehicle for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and especially 2 months ago with the release of acclaimed sports drama "Friday Night Lights". He will himself work on the screenplay with the help of the games own writer J.T. Petty.
The hugely popular game, from Ubi Soft, lets the player get in the skin of covert agent Sam Fisher, whose mission is to infiltrate and destroy terrorist cells. The strong point of the game is the stealth movements of the hero, which Paramount insists they want to see on the screen.
