Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire news tycoon who is the CEO of News Corp which owns primary stake in such right wing news powerhouses as Fox News and The New York Post has reportedly offered to buy a three-story penthouse for $44 million. If the deal goes through, it will be the highest price ever paid for a manhattan co-op.
The interesting part of this is not the price paid, Murdoch is wealthy enough to afford this and much more. It is interesting that a man like Murdoch, who has devoted his life to building various News organizations to tell the conservative side of the news has chosen to spend so much to live in the most liberal city in the country. One would think that Murdoch would instead choose to live in Salt Lake City, Huntsville, Dallas, Butte, or any one of dozens of large cities in solidly conservative 'Red' states where the laws are more like the way his news media holdings preach they should be. Murdoch joins other conservative protagonists like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and various others to live in Librul NYC. Perhaps the lesson to be learned is, the benefits of living in a great Liberal city like New York is good enough for them, but not good enough for the people who listen to their writings or watch their shows.
