Veteran 'creature' actor Ron Perlman stopped to chat with the good folks at IESB.net, mostly about the sequel to this year's "Hellboy"
"Guillermo (Del Toro) is writing it," revealed the actor. "I got an E-Mail from him, he's in Spain directing another film. As soon as he's done with that, we'll be in pre-production for Hellboy 2". From his point of view though, things might not be exactly fast-tracked. He estimated an early 2006 pre-production date.
As for what adventures await the friendly demon, Perlman half-cautions his comments, insisting that he doesn't know what the story will be, and can only stipulate.
"They don't trust me enough to tell me" he jokes. "I think hey're interested in exploring the folklore. You know, all of the time travelling Hellboy does in the comic books, and occult relations he has with other spirits. I don't know if it's going to be bigger, but it's going to go deeper in the lore of the character."
As for the possibility or reuniting the original cast, he expects everyone to come back, unless the script says otherwise.
