Technology Gifts for the Holidays

Being an IT Manager/Consultant type during the day and a serious technology-phile all the time, I naturally look to technology gifts for my loved ones at holiday time. What used to be a fairly easy task with a limited marketplace is now a bewildering assortment of choices. I've spent a few days researching the options and have a few gems that might just save you some hours or days of high anxiety!

If you are looking to buy a full computer system including monitor, check out the Dell Dimension 8400 at $1349 for their Media Center Bundle. It includes a Pentium 4 Processor 540 running at 3.2GHz, a 160GB Hard drive, a 17inch flat screen monitor and more.

For the hard to please audiophile on the go, try Apple's iPod Mini, 3 ounces of power let's you port 1000 songs wherever you go for just $249.

A Nintendo DS portable game console at $149 is the perfect choice for kids and the young at heart. This new system is the hottest portable video game system on the market right now.

Now we get to my favorites. For starters, a gift that would please just about anyone would be one of virtually any of the new Seven MegaPixel Cameras starting at $500. I'm obviously behind on this technology. I thought 'seven' was a typo. I just got used to the three Megapixel cameras.

The new 'it' cell phone is definitely the Motorola Moto Razr V3 Phone $499. One of my coworkers in crime (Thanks Keith!) showed it to the rest of us a few days ago. If you thought you knew the limits of how thin a phone could get, this will change your mind.

Then there is my ultimate dream Tech Gift, the Sony WEGA KE_50XBR900 50 inch Flat Panel Television. MSRP of $12999.99 although can be obtained online for the low low price of $7000. (It's every bit worth it if you can afford it, sadly, I cannot, nor can those who have me on their gift lists.)

Thankfully, my wonderful daughter Victoria has wants that are fairly reasonable, just a couple of Game Cube Cartridges. I'm getting her that and a subscription to http://www.gameznflix.com where she can rent as many more as she wants, three at a time of course, plus a surprise gift or two to be named later!

Now, about my wife Alexis...
