With the fourth "Indiana Jones" back on the drawing board, another of the man's long-delayed projects is re-merging on his to-do list.
According to Variety, the director will follow-up "War Of The Worlds" with his cherished 1972 Olympics project, rumoured to be titled "Vengeance", as soon as next June. Chroinicling the tragic events that put an abrupt end to the games, the movie should be based on the 1984-non-fiction book "Vengeance".
Half-confirming the report, news came from Quebec newspaper Le Soleil that French-Canadian actress Marie-Josee Croze, rewarded at Cannes for her part in the highly acclaimed "Barbarian Invasions", has met with Spielberg recently to discuss her potential involvement. In an interview with the paper, the young lady mentioned that she and Spielberg spent way more time discussing aliens and the war in Irag, but she felt confident to be called upon next summer.
Many other names have circulated around the project in recent months, including Eric Bana, Daniel Craig and veteran actor Ben Kinglsey. Kinglsey had reportedly dropped out of the projects a few months ago, due to a potentially conflicting schedule for his involvement in Roman Polanski's "Oliver Twist" adaptation. If "Vengeance" does indeed happen in mid-05, gentle Ben might just find the time to re-unite with his "Schindler's List" helmer.
In any case, no wealthy bet should be made on Spielberg's next production. The director has been known to juggle many projects in recent years, including "War Of The Worlds", which happened in the wake of Tom Cruise's delayed "M:I-3", and the dismissal of Frank Darabont's Indy script.
