Fresh from two Period-piece flops, Ella Enchanted and Around The World in 80 Days, comedian Steve Coogan has just signed on to remain in the past tense.

The actor will join Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman in the historical drama "Marie Antoinette", about the ill-fated French Queen who offered the famous quote "Let Them Eat Cake". Coogan plays an Austrian Ambassador, while Dunst and Schwartz will be the headless royals.

Rising director Sofia Coppola will adapt the biographical novel by Antonia Frasers. Coppolla Senior will produce under his American Zoetrope banner.
