John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are finally headed to divorce court. The good-looking couple announced their split four months ago but John Stamos filed for divorce officially on Thursday in Los Angeles, citing the usual suspect: “irreconcilable differences.”

The couple were married back in 1998 after four years together. When they met she was a Victoria’s Secret model and he was best known as Jesse on TV’s “Full House.” Since then, his career has languished in obscurity as he became a pitchman for phone services and starred in a failed TV series. His latest attempt, an sitcom about a New York publicist, is scheduled to be a midseason replacement on ABC. Meanwhile, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (who now plans on dropping the Stamos from her name) has seen her star rise with roles in the X-Men movies. Although her last two roles in “The Punisher” and “Godsend” turned out to be duds, she has been cast opposite Ben Affleck in “Man About Town” and will appear in the third installment of X-Men.

Tabloids stated that the breakup was due to the fact that Stamos’s desire to start a family conflicted with his wife’s desire to pursue her acting career. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos has recently been spotted around Los Angeles canoodling with “Crossing Jordan” actor Jerry O’Connell.
