Could rock rebel Courtney Love finally be scared straight? Courtney Love pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in a Los Angeles court room on Friday. In contrast with prior appearances, she arrived on time and seem chastened. 'I'm scared,' Love sobbed outside the courtroom. 'I just want to play music.” Love is free on $150,000 bail after skipping an earlier arraignment for this charge. She is accused of assaulting a woman with a liquor bottle and a metal flashlight at the home of her ex-boyfriend James Barber on April 25 . Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Dennis Mulcahy issued a restraining order on Friday barring Love from coming within 100 yards of her alleged victim. The preliminary hearing is set for October 7th.

This was Love’s second appearance in court this week. She appeared in a Beverly Hills courtroom for a separate hearing on felony charges of illegal possession of prescription painkillers. That trial is scheduled for September 30th, barring a plea agreement. Fall will be busy for Love as she also has a New York court date on September 7 for a hearing on separate charges of assault and reckless endangerment.

In May, she pleaded guilty in Los Angeles to a misdemeanor count of being under the influence of cocaine and was sentenced to an 18-month outpatient drug treatment program. Although her legal troubles have forced her to cancel many shows, she did recently play in Japan and managed not to get arrested.
