The Name of the Game on Big Brother 2? Monopoly

While the major broadcast and cable news networks continue to air round-the-clock uninterrupted news coverage about the terrorist attacks in New York City, life goes on in CBS' "Big Brother 2" house.

During the day Wednesday, two of the houseguests, Will and Nicole, discussed strategies in the Head of Household competition, while that evening the two, along with Monica, played a marathon set of Monopoly -- the board easily recognizable even though the name was blacked out from the board.

Contestants are left to wonder

So far the last three houseguests in CBS' "Big Brother 2" house remain there. Zap2it.com says they were told Tuesday about the disasters in New York and Washington (usually they are not told of outside news) and treated to lunch from a sandwich shop. Monica, who is from Brooklyn, was told that her family is apparently fine, although a cousin was hurt and taken to a hospital.

"I have a bunch of close friends in New York," Will said. "Now it would be nice to send a 60-second message home."

Nicole seemed the least fazed by the days events, pausing long enough from complaining about how the onions on her sandwich were cut too thick to offer the summation, "That's just stupid...We're the United States."

'Big Brother 2' Guests Told of Terrorist Attacks

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - When a crisis of epic proportions hits, it's only natural for the first reaction to be, "Ho does this affect me?" Even those lucky enough not to know anyone hurt or killed in Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the United States, will find the repercussions resounding through their day-to-day lives for weeks to come.

With the line between life and art constantly blurring, television often finds itself at the whim of a public whose attention is suddenly hyper-focused in a specific direction. An episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" revolving around a student sniper was famously yanked following the 1999 Columbine shootings. The bombing of "Melrose Place" took a change in direction after the April 19, 1995, bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City. Likewise, an episode of "Muppets Tonight!" featuring a mad bomber running loose backstage (to tie in with guest host Sandra Bullock) that was originally slated to air on the one-year anniversary of the Timothy McVeigh incident was postponed for two months.

'Big Brother 2's' Will Has the Next to Last Laugh

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - After biding his time for several weeks, "Big Brother 2's" Will finally got the chance to avenge his "girlfriend" Shannon's eviction on Thursday (Sept. 6) night.

Being the one and only vote that mattered, Will understandably sent Hardy packing over Nicole. In the past Hardy had nominated Will for eviction three times and had also nominated Shannon when she was forced to leave.

Will's decision to deliver his judgment face-to-face, rather than via host Julie Chen was the highlight of the episode, seeing as how the show seems to be running out of steam with each house guest who leaves.

Coming out on TV is a lot like real life

Bunky had nobody fooled. When the hirsute homosexual weepily confessed to his housemates on CBS's "Big Brother 2" that he is -- gasp! -- gay, he raised not a single eyebrow. That's because Bunky, who did all but prance around in a feather boa, is as queeny as they come.

That's not to say that homosexual men can't be masculine or that having memorized the lyrics to "A Chorus Line" necessarily targets one as an effeminate gay. That would be wrong.

But what's more wrong is that Bunky, a decidedly gay man in a committed relationship, felt the need to hide his sexual orientation not only from his bozo roommates but from millions of television viewers. This is, after all, the 21st century, where coming out is perfectly acceptable.

Or is it?
