Wildcard or Wild Fraud?

I could have told you from the initial auditions that Kimberly Caldwell (yeah!!), Trenyce and Clay Aiken would advance to the final rounds of American Idol. While I am not unhappy about these choices, it leads me to wonder why the producers of American Idol let America choose the other 9 contestants, if the judges were just going to put through who they thought were the best. Now I know America chose Clay, but if they hadn't rest assured that Simon, Paula or Randy would have and Carmen Rasmusen would not be given yet another second chance.

And what was up on Simon picking Carmen to advance? Now I personally did not think she did that bad on Tuesday's show. You could tell she was a little nervous, but she performed well and sounded okay. Simon however thought she blew it. Yet, he decided to give her another second chance, and then she really blew it Wednesday night. She almost sounded as bad as the helium girl Ashley. My theory is that since America voted to put through who Simon considered the best singer, namely Clay, that Simon decided to put through the worst singer of the wildcard show. I honestly thought that since Clay was voted through by America, that Simon would have picked Nasheka. He said her performance was brilliant and I think she deserves Carmen's spot.

Although I am partial to Kimberly Caldwell, I really like Trenyce too. She is so beautiful and such a wonderful performer. While I predicted Kimberly to win this year's American Idol, I think that Trenyce will come away from the competition with the most successful career. We are living in some hard economic times, but I would muster up some money to buy a Trenyce CD.

What can you say about Clay? That he has an amazing voice and the good sense to take criticism well. He seems like such a nice guy, but I can not understand for the life of me why he did not take Rickey Smith with him when he went to the barbershop and on his shopping spree. You could tell Clay worked hard on improving his image, because he realized that it does matter. Even though I disagree with it, I really liked his comment about there was nothing he could do about his protruding ears. Clay, there may not be anything you can do right now, but I suggest you let your hair grow over them in the future.

In summary I would like to list the final 12 American Idol contestants in the order that I think America will vote them off:

1. Carmen Rasmusen
2. Rickey Smith (a.k.a. Hercules, Hercules, Bluelight Special boy)
3. Julia DeMato
4. Vanessa Olivarez (the long sweater worked for you)
5. Charles Grisby
6. Kimberley Locke (I loved your outfit on Wednesday)
7. Ruben Studdard (a.k.a. Big Sexy)
8. Clay Aiken
9. Joshua Gracin
10. Trenyce
11. Corey Clark (what's up on the ponytail?)
12. Kimberly Caldwell (you go girl!!)

Basically I see it as a repeat of last year. Everyone, including me, keeps comparing Kimberly Caldwell to Kelley Clarkson. And for some reason everyone else wants to compare Corey to Justin.
