Are these clues, or just red herrings? I scanned the ABC board and our own ElitesTV.com and came up with the following.
Possible clues in Episode 1:
1. 45 seconds into show, they mention: Castle Tarasp ("Tarasp" is an anagram for "Sparta"). Not a clue, as this is the real name of the castle, as verified on the web.
2. 47 seconds into show, an X is clearly visible on the castle. (more on this later)(Maybe someone can check on the net if there are pictures of the castle, and if it shows a X in that same spot or the numbers on it?)
3. 50 seconds into show, The numbers "19", "14", and "1623"** are visible on the castle. The host states that the castle is 500* years old. This show was taped in 2001. 2001-700=1301. 1623 is clearly not the age of the castle. Perhaps this is just a address marked on the castle.
* According to a web page, the castle was built in 1040, making this 961, not 700 years old at the time The Mole 2 was filmed. NOTE: thanks for the correction to 500 years old!
**97VR6 from the ABC board (http://www.abc.com ) actually caught a different number on the castle: "the numbers on the castle caught my attention. They were 1628, I believe. That adds up to 17, which is Al's favorite number."
4. When the blindfolds come off and the players are introduced, you can see 4 candles behind Anderson. (This may play well into what Hakishroom has stated: http://www.elitestv.com/discus/messages/4/4198.html?1022762176 about Patrick being the 4th person to come up in the tests during the executions.)
5. 4:08, the letters "HWO" or "HNO" are visible on the crossbow.
6. 3:56, They again show the X on the castle, and if you hold your finger on the screen where the X is, it fades to the mountains and then to the players and Rob is standing in the spot the X was at.
7. 6:46, the letters "RHON"(I may have the 2nd 2 letters wrong) are visible on the crossbow as Bob walks.
8. 18:00, Al, who volunteered to go last (meaning he has to do both ropes), checks his watch while on the ropes with 9 minutes left to cross the upper rope. (Maybe he's waiting to cut it close?)
9. 19:53 Elvia volunteers to go last in the jump off the bridge.
10. 19:59! This is the first instance where Anderson is shown eating a sandwich. Behind him are Darwin (left) and Bill (right).
11. 29:48 The sun is shown in the sky (see later report on sun)
12. 33:12, On the way to the fire, the players pass a truck that has the letters "GULEA" or "CULEA" on it. If it's "CULEA", a anagram of "A Clue" could be made, but I do believe it is a G, not C. "A GLUE" would make no sense to me.
13. 34 minutes into the show, Katie looks at the bag being swung on the crane. There is a bag with the letters "Hael" on it. While it's not generally known, Brib's real name is: Michael Bribieska. HAEL. Another bag appears to have MYRA written on it.
14. As Anderson prepares to type in the names of the players for elimination, 4 candles are shown behind him. This is the 2nd time 4 candles are shown behind him (see #4)
15. The order Anderson used for Episode 1's Execution: Ali, Katie, Al, Patrick, Bob. Patrick is the 4th player to be typed in the computer, 4 candles...a clue? Thanks to Haki for pointing this out!
Episode 2:
Ok, I am going from memory of watching this the first time, so I will post more when I watch the tape again later. Just before the execution, you see 3 sections of carpets with the following:
Sun, Aquarius, Pisces. Only the sun is not a Zodiac sign. If you count when they showed the sun in episode 1, this would be the 2nd instance of it appearing. Keep this in mind for next week.
To expand on this, RA is the Sun God. MyRA? After all, she appeared unconcerned when her bag was "burned", in itself suspicious.
The only Pisces is Bill, Feb 26 occupation - Rear Admiral Retired (RA again?)
There are 7 letters in "M-O-L-E-T-W-O" just like there are 7 letters in PATRICK. Another clue? Or no?
Of particular interest, the poker game. Katie played with green chips, others had black. Green is the Mole color, after all.
