James Getzlaff, Star of 'Boy Meets Boy', Stars In 'My Big Gay Italian Wedding'

BOY MEETS BOY. BOY MARRIES BOY.
(…Or Does He?)

James Getzlaff, Star of TV’s “Boy Meets Boy”
Joins the Cast of Off-Broadway’s Comedy Smash
“MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING”
Beginning June 11 at Theatre Four.

James Getzlaff, the star bachelor at the center of Bravo’s hit reality show, “Boy Meets Boy,” will make his New York stage debut joining the cast of MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING on June 11 at Theatre Four, 424 West 55th Street (west of Ninth Ave.)

James Getzlaff earned national fame last year as the star of Bravo’s “Boy Meets Boy.” The enormously popular reality series followed 16 male suitors all vying for James’ attention, with each one facing possible elimination at the end of every episode. What the leading man didn’t know was that some of the potential mates were actually straight men posing as gay, leading to heated on-air discussions and debates. “Boy Meets Boy: Complete Season One” is being released on DVD May 25.

Planning a wedding can be hell. And planning to ruin a wedding can be a hell of a lot of fun – especially when one of the grooms is your ex-lover! These are the issues confronted head on in MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING, the Off-Broadway comedy smash written by Anthony Wilkinson and directed by Peter Rapanaro.

Brooklynites Andrew Polinski (James Getzlaff) and Anthony Pinnunziato (Anthony Wilkinson) are getting married. Anthony insists on a big traditional Italian wedding but there are a few problems. Anthony’s family won't give their blessing unless he can fulfill two requirements: The ceremony is to be performed by a priest, and Andrew's estranged mother in Florida must give her blessing. To further complicate matters, Andrew's ex-boyfriend is intent on breaking the couple up by revealing a past indiscretion. Can their familial problems be solved? And can this couple make it through 'I Do' after what one of them did?

Featured in the cast of 24 are Concetta Maria Aliotta, JC Alvarez, Jon Vincent Blake, Vincent Briguccia, Barry Brisco, Lorenzo Cambriello, Michael Ciriaco, Meridith Cullen, Brett Douglas, Laura Gaspari, Joe Grimaldi, Nate Johnson, Randi Kaplan, Lisa Liaromatis, Carla-Marie Mercun, Amanda Minker, Maria Nazzaro, Guy Olivieri, Rocco Parente, Antony Raymond, Yvonne Roen, Julie Scalione, and Joe Scanio.

Playwright and co-star Anthony Wilkinson is a 27 year-old Italian-American born and raised in Staten Island. He is a 1997 graduate of New York University. In 1996 he became Production Coordinator for the ABC daytime drama “One Life to Live.” He has been with the show since that time and is currently DGA Senior Production Associate/Associate Director. In 1996 he created and produced an annual ABC Daytime karaoke competition to benefit Rainbow's Hope, an event that ran successfully for seven years. Anthony also wrote and produced the gay musical “Rainbow Phi” which ran in Fire Island and at Spectrum in Brooklyn. He has never been married.

Scenic design for MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING is by John Kenny, with lighting design by Bob Bessoir, costume design by Chris March, and choreography by Joseph Ritsch.

3 p.m. at Theatre Four, 424 West 55th Street (west of Ninth Ave.) Tickets are $45 and are available through TeleCharge.com 212-239-6200. For more information visit www.mybiggayitalianwedding.com.
