You may remember that Anna was the first person eliminated from America’s Next Top Model because she refused to pose in body paint and little else. I had the pleasure of speaking with her recently to get more dish on the photo shoot, her views of the show, and her plans now:
Elites TV: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. So, how do you feel after last night’s show?
Anna: Well, I don’t regret any decision that I made and it was disappointing being the first person eliminated, but I’m still very proud of myself.
Elites TV: Are you back in Georgia?
Anna: Yes I am.
Elites TV: What are you doing now?
Anna: I’m an accounting clerk.
Elites TV: Are you still going to pursue modeling?
Anna: Oh definitely. I have to fulfill my dream. I’ve just got to!
Elites TV: How did you become involved with the show?
Anna: Well, my husband saw the commercial on TV and told me about the auditions and all, so I decided to do it. I had a series of auditions and they liked me so...
Elites TV: You know, I never would have thought you were a plus size model until Tyra said so because you didn’t look like one.
Anna: Well, thank you! In the modeling world, though, that’s what I am.
Elites TV: How did the other girls treat you? Did they treat you any differently?
Anna: No, I’m confident with myself and the girls didn’t treat me any differently.
Elites TV: Had you ever been to New York before? If not, what’d you think?
Anna: No, never. Wow! It was totally different from anything I’ve ever experienced before.
Elites TV: Let’s talk a little about the first test where you were thrust into a runway situation. Had you ever had any experience walking a runway before?
Anna: Uh, I’ve been in one fashion show before and when I graduated from high school I did some modeling. Then I chose to go to college and well… [laughs] Now I want to go into it full time, full force.
Elites TV: I know you weren’t there very long, but did you develop any friendships in the house? Have you been able to keep in touch with anyone?
Anna: I haven’t been able to keep in touch with anyone or get anyone’s number. When I was eliminated, I was gone! While I was at the photo shoot, I connected with Catie, but...
Elites TV: Were there any that you didn’t get along with?
Anna: No, I got along well with everybody, but it’s going to be interesting.
Elites TV: Well, the show isn’t really conducive to making friends. It is, after all, a competition, as Tyra said.
Anna: [laughs] Exactly!
Elites TV: So tell me, how long did those elimination meetings last? Do the judges spend a long time with each girl? Watching the show, you don’t really get a sense of how long they spend with each one.
Anna: Oh man, it seemed like forever, but I can’t really say.
Elites TV: How long ago did you do this?
Anna: A couple of months ago.
Elites TV: Wow, I admire your ability to keep quiet for so long.
Anna: Well, when you put your name on that line, you keep your mouth shut. It was hard but you have to abide by the rules.
Elites TV: Did you even leak it to your family?
Anna: I wanted to, but I had to keep quiet. And my husband respected that decision and didn’t even ask!
Elites TV: I’d like to talk a little bit about the infamous photo shoot. First, if you were able to wear clothing rather than body paint, would you have done it or still said no?
Anna: Yes, I would have done it. They could have painted over the lingerie or bodysuit or whatever.
Elites TV: What about revealing lingerie? Would that bother you?
Anna: Let’s put it this way; it’s gotta be covered, and in a tasteful way.
Elites TV: And you don’t regret your decision?
Anna: No, not at all. Everyone’s proud of me. I’m proud of myself that I didn’t compromise my integrity.
Elites TV: Any final words?
Anna: I just hope I made a positive impact on the women and girls out there and I want to encourage all the wannabe models out there to keep pursuing it and follow their dreams.
Elites TV: Anna, thank you so much for speaking with us. It’s been a pleasure. Again I want to say how much I admire you for sticking to your principles.
